Due to China’s opposition, Taiwan was once again unable to participate in the annual World Health Assembly (WHA) of the World Health Organization (WHO). However, many countries, including the United States, spoke out for Taiwan’s participation in the WHA and WHO. Taiwanese activists said that this year’s World Health Assembly advocated for Taiwan more strongly. Even WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was more friendly than before when he saw Taiwanese groups protesting outside the venue. A positive development.
