White House, Republicans near deal to raise debt ceiling, cut spending




According to reports, senior White House officials and Republican lawmakers were close to reaching an agreement late Thursday (May 25) that would raise the debt ceiling for two years while limiting all federal spending except for the military and veterans. If the agreement can be reached and takes effect, it will increase the government’s borrowing limit for two years.
