In Karnataka, the ruling BJP has received a shock when the assembly elections are going to be held in a few months. HD Thammaiah, a Lingayat leader of the BJP and a close associate of the party’s national general secretary CT Ravi, has resigned from the party. Later HD Thammaiah and his followers joined the Congress party. Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar Thammaiah and his followers were welcomed into the party by Hastam. Thammaiya said that he is joining the party without any expectations. Shivakumar said that many BJP leaders want to join the Congress, but he is not revealing the names.
“Many BJP leaders met me voluntarily. They wanted a change in Chikkamagalur. 12-13 members applied for tickets. We are admitting all the second hand leaders. Now it has become a trend.. they are looking for big leaders.. we are looking for leaders who work at the booth level” said DK Sivakumar.
And, HD Thammaiah has been in BJP for a long time. He wanted a ticket to contest the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka. However, it seems that he has not been given a green signal by the party leadership to contest the elections after serving in various positions in the BJP. In this background, he said goodbye to the BJP. He joined the party with his hand.
“I have been working in BJP since 2007. Carrying out my responsibilities in various positions. But the current political developments disappoint me. As a result I want to resign from the post of district unit convener and basic membership. I would like to thank all the Boards, Forums, Unit Office Bearers, Chiefs and Members of the Party who have supported me in my work for 17 years in BJP. Also, thank you to all my activist colleagues and senior leaders,” said Thammaiah in his resignation letter.
