Reports state that crimes against women are on the rise in Uttar Pradesh. On March 3, police arrested three youths for gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district. Officials said the incident took place on Wednesday night. They said that the victim had gone to give birth and was stopped by the three accused on her way home. Spotting the girl alone, the three accused offered to drop the girl at home. When she refused, the accused took her to a deserted place and raped her, the girl’s family members told the police.
Also, the body of an eight-year-old minor girl, who went missing for hours on February 20, was found on Sunday in a swamp in Bhuwani village of Basti in Uttar Pradesh, officials said. According to the locals, Purvi (8) had attended a wedding ceremony on Saturday night and since then she was not seen and her body was found later. Teams of Lal Ganj Police Station, Dog Squad, Forensics and senior officials who responded to the incident examined the incident site. The body was sent for postmortem. A case was registered against the accused on the complaint of the family members. “Police forces have been deployed at the scene,” ASP said. Police investigation is going on.
