England, who won the T20 World Cup in November last year and became the world champions, gave an unexpected shock to Bangladesh. Shakib Sena clean swept England in the T20 series at home. Bangla, who have already won the first two matches and won the series, recently gave a triple shock to England by winning the third T20I as well. This is England’s first clean sweep win over Bangladesh.

Bangladesh, who batted first in the third match at the Sher A Bangla Stadium in Dhaka, scored 158 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Opener Liton Das (73 off 57 balls, 10 fours, 1 six) along with Santo (47 not out off 36 balls, 1 four, 2 sixes) excelled. England used seven bowlers to dismiss the Bangladeshi batters, but only Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan took a wicket each.

In chasing down the target, England lost six wickets and made 142 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Philip Salt was ducked in the first ball he faced while another opener David Malan (53) and captain Jos Buttler (40 off 31 balls, 4 fours, 1 six) added 95 runs for the second wicket.

England’s innings, which was running smoothly, suddenly suffered a jolt. Mustafizur, who bowled the 14th over, dismissed David Malan on the first ball. In the second ball of the same over, Mehdi Hasan was run out by a throw by Miraj. Soon Moeen Ali (9) and Sam Karan (4) also made their way to the pavilion.

England’s score, which was 100-1 before the start of the 13th over, became 123-5 at the end of 17 overs. Mustafizur, who bowled the 18th over, gave away only five runs while needing 36 runs in the last three overs. Shakib gave only four runs in the 19th over. Needing 27 runs in the last over, England scored only ten runs. With this, Bengal won by 16 runs.
