Karnataka: A biker was killed in an accident involving a police vehicle in the state Home Minister’s convoy in Hassan district of Karnataka last night. However, Home Minister Arag Gyanendra’s office said the vehicle was not part of the main convoy and was traveling behind the convoy. A police official confirmed that a police vehicle was involved in the accident.
Police said the accident took place when the minister was returning from a pre-election program attended by BJP chief JP Nadda in Chamarajanagar district. The Superintendent of Police said that a person was hit by a district police vehicle while the minister’s convoy was returning last night. A 45-year-old man died on the spot in the incident. An inspector was driving the police vehicle at the time of the accident.

According to the minister’s office, they were not aware of the accident until they were a long way from the site of the accident. Reports of the home minister’s escort vehicle hitting a man and causing his death are not true. The vehicle was not part of his convoy, a statement from his office said. However, the minister, who was alerted to the danger, did not stop his convoy and there was a lot of anger.
Later, the police inspected the spot and shifted the body to a local hospital. Nadda yesterday flagged off the BJP’s ‘Vijay Sankalpa Yatra’ at Male Mahadeshwara in the district ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections.
