Nellore: A tragedy took place in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. On Sunday evening.. a boat overturned in the pond of Toderu village of Podalakuru mandal. Six youths were lost in this boat carrying passengers capsized. As soon as the incident came to light, the police rushed to the scene and searched for the missing persons. Police as well as fire personnel are also searching for the missing youth. It seems that all of them came for a fun stroll in the pond as it was a holiday on Sunday.
However, ten youths were on the boat at the time of the accident. Six of them were killed while four escaped unharmed. The police said that the names of the youths missing in the boat are Raghu (24), Surendra (19), Balaji (21), Kalyan (28), Trinath (18) and Prashant (29). The search operations for these six youths are going on under the supervision of Potalakur CI Sangameswara Rao and SSI Kharimulla.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the police recovered the dead body of Kalyan. Minister Kakani expressed shock over this accident. The minister hastily left the Kerala Agriculture Conference after getting the information about the boat accident in Toderu pond. It is reported that the minister will reach Kakani Todera at midnight on Monday. The officials were ordered to carry out intensive search for the missing persons.
Nellore Rural DSP P Veeranjaneya Reddy said that they all belong to Shanti Nagar village near Toderu. They went into the pond in a boat used to feed the fish in the pond. However, the boat was overloaded and they lost control of it.

Fearing that they would drown due to water coming into the boat, they jumped from the boat into the water hoping to reach the shore even if they swam. However, only four out of 10 managed to reach the shore safely. The remaining six are still missing in the pond. Locals alerted about the accident and informed the police.
Rescue teams consisting of firemen and police personnel reached the spot. By the time the rescue teams reached the pond, the boat made of iron was completely submerged in the pond. Boats from nearby areas were brought to Todere to search for the missing persons. Due to poor lighting, the rescue operation did not go as expected.
