Congress criticizes BRS and BJP: Once again, the Congress party has criticized the BJP and BRS. Congress alleged that BRS model means family rule and Gujarat model is to benefit crony capitalists. People have nothing to do with BJP and BRS. However, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that Congress is implementing many programs for the empowerment of the poor.

Bhupesh Baghel said in a public meeting organized in Karimnagar as part of the ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ padayatra undertaken by TPCC President and Congress MP Revanth Reddy that the Telangana government and the BJP-led Center are committing exploitation. He said that unlike the BJP’s ‘Gujarat model’ which benefits crony capitalists and the BRS model of ‘family rule’ in Telangana, the Congress is implementing programs for the empowerment of the poor. He said that while the unemployed youth of the state should be given employment, after BRS came to power in the state, the members of Chief Minister KCR’s family got positions in the government.

“You (people) asked for Telangana (state), you got Telangana. But did the farmers get the minimum support price (for their produce)? Did the youth get jobs? Did unemployment disappear?…” he asked. “Only one family got out of unemployment.. that is KCR’s family. Every K Tarakarama Rao (KCR’s son) also got a job. Who is Harish Rao (KCR’s nephew)? He also got employment. Who is Kavitha (KCR’s daughter)? That means only one family got employment. “He gave all the jobs to his family,” he criticized KCR.

Targeting the BJP, Baghel described it as the ‘Gujarat model’, referring to party leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has benefited a few friends at the risk of the lives of the people of the country. He alleged that the Telangana model would benefit only one family. Recalling that after coming to power in 2014, Modi said that the Gujarat model would be implemented in the country.. Have you benefited from the Gujarat model? He asked. Modi has been criticized for ruling in a way that benefits his cronies. However, he said that Congress has never neglected the poor, it has strengthened the common people, and Congress has always been at the forefront in working for the empowerment of the poor.

He cited examples of right to education, right to food, right to work and right to information provided by the previous UPA government at the Centre. Baghel spoke about the ‘Chhattisgarh model’ of waiving farmers’ loans immediately after the Congress came to power. He also mentioned many schemes started there including farmers. He said that his government has announced unemployment benefit in the recent budget. He said that only Congress can fulfill the goals for which Telangana was formed and people should support that party in the next assembly elections.
