Because it is made with latest technology. This jacket is specially designed for VVIPs to wear over their suits. The lightweight (1.8 kg) jacket is made available in different colors by the manufacturers to suit the needs of the consumers.
Recently it was showcased on the occasion of Aero India 2023 Air Show. Rajeev Sharma, General Manager-Operations of Troop Comforts Limited (TCL), which has developed a bullet resistant jacket for VVIPs, told Asianet News that it will be a game changer. Another important point here is that Troop Comforts Limited, which developed this jacket, is a government organization under the Ministry of Defence. It is a four-unit amalgamation division separated from the previous Ordnance Factory Board.
This jacket is specially designed for VVIPs to wear over their suits. The lightweight (1.8 kg) jacket is available in various colors to suit the needs of the users. Made of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene used as a soft armor panel, this jacket protects the user from 9x19mm ammunition (pistols or revolvers). That means it’s a bullet proof jacket!
Rajeev said that with this (VVIP bullet proof jacket) TCL will also expand into the civil market. “So far we have focused on defense services. Now we are expanding into the civil market as well. Everyone is appreciating this product,” he said. Meanwhile, at Aero India 2023, TCL showcased five new products that could be used by the Indian Air Force. One of them is Coat Combat Digital intended for use in mild winters. This coat confirms the camouflage digital pattern for the IAF’s recently introduced combat uniform.
TCL showcased fire-resistant, high-rise tents, combat boots, parachutes, bullet-proof clothing, and the Extended Cold Weather Covering System or ECWCS, which is currently undergoing trials in Siachen. ECWCS will be used at an altitude of 18,000 feet with temperatures below minus 50 and winds blowing at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour. ECWCS consists of seven layers. Available in eight different combinations, TCL expects to receive an order from the Indian Army soon.
