Indian Navy chopper accident: An Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) of the Indian Navy crashed near the coast of Mumbai on Wednesday (March 8) morning. The three crew members of the helicopter were safely rescued by a Navy patrol ship, the Navy said.

Officials said that a technical error occurred in the helicopter while flying over the Arabian Sea. Due to this, the pilot could not control and fell down. However, the helicopter deployed its emergency flotation gear. The three crew members were rescued safely by a naval patrol vessel, the Navy said. He also ordered an inquiry into the incident. An investigation is underway into how the Navy helicopter crashed. Officials reached the spot after receiving the information. The rescued personnel were taken to the hospital by the rescue team.

Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson of the Indian Navy said on the official Twitter handle, “Indian Navy ALH aircraft crashed near the coast of Mumbai. All rescued safely as a result of immediate search and rescue.” He tweeted.

In October last year, an advanced light helicopter belonging to the army crashed in Arunachal Pradesh. Five crew members of the helicopter were killed. As a precautionary measure, all ALHs operating in the country’s three services have been grounded for safety checks.
