Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials raided the houses of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family as part of the job scam investigation. Reacting to the ED’s action, Congress President Mallikarjuna targeted the Modi government at the Center and accused the Modi government of misusing the agencies.
Kharge tweeted..“In the last 14 hours, ED raids Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav’s house. His pregnant wife and sisters are being harassed. Lalu Prasad Yadav ji was old and sick. However, Modi government is not showing humanity towards them.
Misuse of ED-CBIs
In another tweet, Congress president Kharge wrote, “Modi government is making a vicious attempt to kill democracy by misusing ED-CBI against opposition leaders. Where are the Modi government agencies when fugitives flee the country with crores? ‘Best friend’ wealth is sky high.. Why was there no investigation? The people will give a suitable answer to this dictatorship! He tweeted.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav also criticized the BJP by tweeting about the ED attack. We also saw the dark phase of emergency. We also fought in that war. Today the ED spends hours interrogating my daughters, young granddaughter and pregnant daughter-in-law in baseless revenge cases. Will BJP stoop to such a low level and wage a political war? They wrote that. In another tweet, Lalu Yadav said, ‘My ideological fight against Sangh and BJP will continue forever. I have never bowed before them, no one from my family or party will bow before your politics’.
What did ED find in this attack?
Related sources said that the ED seized Rs.53 lakh cash, 1,900 dollars, around 540 grams of gold and 1.5 kg of gold jewelery in these raids. According to sources, the ED conducted searches at Tejaswi Yadav’s house in Delhi’s New Friends Colony area. The address of this house is in the company name of AK Infosystems Private Limited. It is alleged that the Yadav family is using it as their residential property. The ED raided the houses of Lalu Prasad’s daughters Ragini Yadav, Chanda Yadav, Hema Yadav, former RJD MLAs Abu Dojana, Amit Katyal, Navdeep Sardana and Praveen Jain in Patna, Phulwari Sharif, Delhi-NCR, Ranchi in Bihar and Mumbai.
When did the alleged scam take place?
The scam was alleged to have taken place during the tenure of Lalu Prasad Yadav as Railway Minister during the UPA-1 government. It is alleged that between 2004-2009, various persons in Group D were appointed in different zones of Indian Railways and in return they transferred their land to then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and family members of AK Infosystems Pvt.
