Free bus rides in Karnataka: Karnataka assembly elections are going on soon. In this order, the BJP’s vital plans are already being implemented to gain power once again. Another important decision was taken as part of this. Karnataka government has announced that it is providing free bus facility. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday announced that working women and school children will be provided free travel in government buses from April 1. The announcement of free bus travel is creating a political uproar in the state at a time when the assembly elections are going to be held soon.
If we go into details, working women and school children will be provided free travel in government buses from April 1, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Tuesday. Before the elections, he launched Volvo Multi Axel BS 4-9600 sleeper buses of KSRTC. Speaking to the media on this occasion, Bommai said that the main purpose of creating this scheme is to help women achieve self-sufficiency. At least five buses should ply in each taluka at the time of opening of schools. He said that more grants will be released if required.
He said that transport plays a vital role in economic development and that is why priority has been given to it. He said that in the state budget for the financial year 2023-24, free pass facility has been announced for working women and school students. He said that his government will always stand by the working staff and management and provide good services to the passengers. The CM said that a special transport team named ‘Ambari’ with sleeper facility has been dedicated to the state. He said that many good features have been provided in these buses just like railway sleeper coaches.
In the past, Volvo buses were not comfortable and they have understood this and designed multi-axle buses to provide better facilities to the passengers. Henceforth night travel in these buses will be convenient, he said. Basavaraj Bommai suggested that the State Transport Corporation should buy some more buses. Earlier, Bommai criticized the Congress saying that the Congress has no moral right to talk about corruption, that the party has weakened the Lokayukta and tried to cover up the cases by handing them over to the ACB. He said there were many cases related to Congress ministers and then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. All cases will be referred to Lokayukta. We will see who will go to jail.
