Young opener Shubman Gill, who replaced KL Rahul in the final team in the third Test, got injured. Gill was injured when the Indian team scored at 32-1. In the sixth over of India’s innings bowled by Starc, Gill ran off the third ball. In this sequence, while he was diving forward, he was injured under the abdomen. During the dive, Gill suffered a skin blow.
At the same time Gill looked towards the dressing room for help. The medical team of Team India immediately came and treated his injury. But this was wronged by the famous cricketer of Team India, Sunil Gavaskar. He said that two more balls would have ended the over and then it would have been better if the medical staff had been called.
While Gill was injured and he was receiving treatment, Gavaskar who was in the commentary box said… ‘Gill was injured while diving. It appears that it is not a major injury. It would have been better if Gill had waited a little longer. Because the sun is burning above. A fast bowler is bowling. Still four balls fell. Two more balls would have been an over. Then he was treated quickly but there was no damage. There is nothing wrong with waiting for two balls when you are at the non-striker’s end. Small things like this are very important…’ he commented.
