Hyderabad: For the second day in Telangana state as well, heavy rains accompanied by hail, thunder and lightning have lashed crops in many districts, especially in Kottagudem. A goatherd lost his life in Nagarjunasagar Mandal, Nalgonda. Thunderstorms occurred in many districts of the state including Zaheerabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Kamareddy, Narayanapet, Gadwal, Jagityala and Sangareddy. Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Wanaparthi, Nagarkurnool and Nalgonda received widespread rain at isolated places from Thursday night to late Friday night, while the southern part of the state was severely affected.
Some parts of the state including Yadadri, Medak, Medchal, Jangam and Bhonagiri are dry. Some areas are experiencing strong gusty winds and heavy rains. Crops like maize, chilli, mango and papaya were destroyed by the cyclone in Kothagudem district. On Thursday, a 17-year-old goatherd and over 40 of his sheep were killed by lightning in Nagarjunasagar mandal of Nalgonda. Saidanayak, a tribal boy from Chintala Thanda, hides under a song tree with goats as it rains. He and the goats were killed by lightning.

Motorists were stuck in a traffic jam in Hyderabad from early morning till evening on Friday. Students appearing for the Intermediate Public Examinations faced a lot of difficulties in traveling to their examination centres. Attendance in schools is also low. According to teachers’ expectations parents are not inclined to send their children till next Monday due to rains.
Power outages due to rain on Thursday night continued till Friday morning in the surrounding areas of Ameerpet, Bashirbagh, Manikonda, Aminpur, Kukatpally and Lakhdikapool. A transformer exploded at Neredmet. Due to this, residents are afraid to use electronic items. At some places in the city like Barkatpura and Mettuguda, wires are dangling precariously, which has worried residents.
Gusts of thunder, lightning, gusty winds up to 40 kmph, hailstorm in some parts of Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityala, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Rangareddy Bhuvanagiri, Khammam, Hyderabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy districts. The Indian Meteorological Department has announced an orange alert that there is a possibility. A yellow alert has been issued in the remaining districts of Telangana for the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds. The minimum temperature in Hyderabad on Saturday is likely to be 19 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is likely to be 27 degrees Celsius. Heavy rains are expected for the next three days.
