Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has implemented face recognition for devotees in Tirumala from today. For more transparency in providing services to devotees smoothly, TTD has taken up this procedure as an experimental proposal from Wednesday. First.. Face recognition technology was introduced at Sarva Darshan (Free Darshan) counters, Laddu counters and accommodation centers in Tirumala. Sources of TTD say that with this new policy, the system of middlemen is likely to be reduced.
On the other hand, due to implementation of face recognition technology, TTD will take steps to ensure that each devotee gets a room in Tirumala only once a month. TTD officials say that devotees are allowed to have free darshan once a month. Anyone trying to have a free darshan at the Tirumala temple will now be restricted to one in a month, he said. TTD sources feel that face recognition technology will help increase transparency when it comes to allotment of subsidized rental rooms for devotees. This approach is also likely to assist TTD in identifying middlemen who acquire TTD rooms and sell them at higher rates.
Meanwhile.. the crowd of devotees has reduced in Tirumala. On Tuesday, 59,392 devotees visited Srivara and paid their prayers. 20,714 devotees offered Talanilas. Yesterday Srivari Hundi income was Rs. 4. Got 14 crores.
