External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi shared pictures and videos of the trip to Turkey on social media, saying that specially trained dog squads, medical supplies, drilling machines and other necessary equipment have been sent to help Turkey after three strong earthquakes hit Turkey on Monday, killing thousands.

Responding to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s tweet on the earthquake, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of life and property. He assured that India will cooperate in all ways to deal with this situation. Prime Minister Modi expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Wishing the injured a speedy recovery. Prime Minister Modi tweeted that India stands in solidarity with the people of Turkey and is ready to provide all kinds of assistance to face this disaster. Also, expressing deep sympathy to the families of the deceased, he said in another tweet that they are partners in the suffering of the people of Syria and are committed to provide assistance in this difficult time.
The MEA said on Monday that India will immediately send search and rescue and medical teams to earthquake-hit Turkey after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, killing more than 3,000 people and injuring thousands. Two teams of NDRF comprising of 100 personnel with specially trained dog squads and necessary equipment are ready for search and rescue operations in the earthquake affected area. Earlier, EAM said that it is preparing medical teams with trained doctors and paramedical staff with necessary medicines.
More than 4,000 people have died in Turkey and neighboring Syria after a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey early on Monday. The earthquake was the strongest in the region in the past hundred years, and several strong tremors were reported across the region, including Lebanon and Israel.
