Restof India won the prestigious Irani Cup 2022-23 in domestic cricket. In this match which ended at Gwalior, Restoff India won by 238 runs against the former Ranji champion Madhya Pradesh. Chasing a target of 437 runs against Madhya Pradesh, the team was bowled out for 198 runs. Yashaswi Jaiswal who scored centuries in both innings in this match got the player of the match award.
Madhya Pradesh, who started the fifth day with an overnight score of 81-2, lost the wicket of captain Himanshu Mantri (51) at the same score in the morning. After that Yash Dhube (8), Aman Solanki (31) and Saransh Jain (7) also failed.
Madhya Pradesh’s defeat was confirmed as Harsh (48), who wanted to help, also got out. Mukesh Kumar, Shesh and Pulkit Narang took two wickets each among restoff India bowlers, Saurabh Kumar took three wickets and Navdeep Saini took one wicket.
Batting first in this match, Restoff India was bowled out for 484 runs in the first innings. The team’s opener Abhimanyu Easwaran (153) scored a century while Yashaswi Jaiswal (213) excelled with a double century. In the first innings, Madhya Pradesh was bowled out for 294 runs. Restoff India, who had a first innings lead of 190 runs, were bowled out for 246 runs in the second innings. Yashaswi scored a century (144) in this innings as well. As a result, Restoff India set a huge target of 437 runs in front of Madhya Pradesh.

So far only three teams have won the Irani Cup while being Ranji champions. Earlier, Railways won Irani Cup in 2002, 2005, Karnataka 2013, 2014, Vidarbha 2017 and 2018.
