No one guarantees that everyone will not get sick in life. If not, experts say that if we change our lifestyle, we can reduce the chance of getting diseases. A new study reveals that exercise plays a key role in keeping us healthier.

In a new study published in JAMA Network Open, more than 78,000 people aged 81 to 42 years participated. This study found that an extra 20 minutes of exercise a day can significantly reduce your risk of hospitalization. The researchers found that a lower risk of hospitalization was associated with increased physical activity. Experts say that 20 minutes of daily exercise can reduce the risk of colon polyps by 3.8 percent and the risk of being admitted to the hospital with diabetes by 23 percent.

Exercise has been found to reduce the risk of common diseases such as diabetes, pneumonia, ischemic stroke, gallbladder disease, anemia, urinary tract infections (UTI), colon polyps, venous thromboembolism, and diverticular disease.

Exercise is important as we age

Physical activity is very important to keep yourself fit and healthy. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), regular exercise improves muscle growth. It also reduces the risk of age-related health problems.

How much exercise should be done to avoid diseases?

Do at least 150 minutes of jogging or running every week.
Do muscle strengthening exercises at least twice a week.
Exercises should be done to help improve balance.

Hard exercises should not be done immediately to stay healthy. Start with a 10 to 15 minute walk every day. After that increase this time to 30 minutes. Then do more than that. People suffering from chronic disease should consult doctors and be physically active as much as possible. Experts say that if you want to live a long life, you should definitely set aside some time for exercise.
