Last December, Lalu Yadav underwent a kidney transplant in a hospital in Singapore. After the surgery, Lalu’s son, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav tweeted: “My father had a successful kidney transplant operation. He was shifted from the operation theater to ICU. The donor’s sister Rohini Acharya and the party’s national president are both healthy. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.” He tweeted.

“The doctors said that someone from the family should donate a kidney to my father. After doing the tests, my sister Rohini’s kidney is fine,” Tejaswi told reporters in Patna. The 74-year-old Lalu was suffering from serious kidney problems for some time and the doctors advised him to undergo a kidney transplant.

His daughter Rohini came forward to be the donor. On her insistence, they went to Singapore for the surgery. Rohini Acharya is married to Rao Samesh Singh, an engineer by profession. Lives in Singapore. The couple has two sons and a daughter.
