MMRPS founder president Mandakrishna Madiga was arrested by the police. MMRPS, which is protesting against the introduction of the SC classification bill in the Parliament, has called for the blockade of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway. In this order, the police arrested the MMRPs ranks who tried to block the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway. On the other hand, Mandakrishna Madiga was arrested by the police in Hyderabad. Police did not allow Mandakrishna Madiga to step out of his residence in Amberpet area of the city to prevent him from going to the protest.
However, Mandakrishna Madiga asked the Chief Ministers and DGPs of Telugu states to release the arrested MMRPS activists. He said BJP has no moral right to ask Madigala vote. MRPS has been demanding for a long time that a bill to classify SCs into A, B, CD and D groups should be introduced in the Parliament. It also wants the two Telugu state governments to put pressure on the Centre.
Meanwhile, the protest by MMRPS on the demand of SC classification in Vijayawada turned violent on Monday. Holding flags and shouting slogans, tens of protesters blocked the highway at Thotcharla. The police entered the field to remove the agitators. This led to a fight between the two groups. A constable was injured in the stone pelting. The constable was rushed to Nandigama Government Hospital due to head injuries. Several protesters were arrested by the police and taken to the police station.
