Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao: Finance Minister Harish Rao on Sunday released water from Konda Pochamma Sagar for the irrigation needs of Chegunta and Ramayampeta mandals. Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that when Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) came up with the idea of providing irrigation to the region through the Kaleshwaram Lift Scheme (KLIS), the opposition parties created many obstacles. He said that the Chief Minister overcame all such obstacles with determination and realized the dream of providing irrigation to the waste lands of Medak district with Godavari waters.

Minister Harish Rao said that if water is released from Pochammasagar hill, irrigation water will be available throughout the year. He said that it is a long-standing dream to provide drinking water to the backward areas of Ramayampeta and Dubbaka. However, he criticized the previous governments led by Congress and Telugu Desam parties for never paying attention to the problems of the people. Although the Chegunta area is very high above the sea level, the Chief Minister said that the construction of Konda Pochamma Sagar at a height of 612 meters above the sea level has been progressed to provide irrigation water to these areas.

Also, he said that we are providing better governance in the state. He said that all kinds of measures are being taken for the welfare of farmers. Reiterating that the Telangana government will always stand by the farmers, Harish Rao accused the Center of forcing the state to install electricity meters at the borewells. He said that as the Chief Minister refused to do so, the Center withdrew the dues of Rs.30 thousand crores. Meanwhile, Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Medak MLA Padmadevender Reddy and others participated in the water release program from Konda Pochammasagar.
