Nepal cricket team qualified for ODI World Cup for the first time. Needing to win 11 out of 12 matches to qualify for the World Cup Qualifier round, Nepal overcame all odds with a brilliant performance. In the final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two 2019-23 round, Nepal won against the UAE team by 9 runs.
Lakhs of people thronged the Tribuvan University International Cricket Ground to watch this match in Kirtipur. Batting first, UAE made a huge score of 310 runs, losing 6 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. However, UAE lost 5 wickets for 175 runs as Aryan Lakra 6, Afzal Khan 3 and Rizwan 7 got out. But Asif Khan, who came to bat at the seventh position, scored 101 runs in 42 balls with 4 fours and 11 sixes and created a record.
Nepal quickly lost 5 wickets to Asif Sheikh and Kushal Malla in a huge target of 311 runs.
