New Delhi: Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court UU Lalit made important comments on the Coliseum system. He clarified that the collegium system of appointing judges is correct and there is no need to change it. There have been various debates surrounding the Coliseum system in recent times. The central government is strongly saying that there is a need to change the Coliseum system. However, the judges of the Supreme Court say that the collegium system is correct. In this context, former CJI UU Lalit expressed his views.
He spoke on February 9 at the inaugural session of the 12th edition of Think Edu Conclave on Why Study Law. He said that jurisprudence should not be limited to universities and colleges only. He explained that the opportunity to study law should be made available to all common people. He said that the time has come to give internships to law students to interact with the rural population. He explained that it would be good to introduce internships to interact with rural people, understand their problems and challenges they face.

He said that just as medical students should have such internships, law students should also have such internships. With the rural population, it is believed that just as there are internships for medical students in rural areas, there should also be internships for law students.
