Bengaluru: Karnataka state BJP chief Nalin Kumar Katil recently opened another controversy by terming the Karnataka assembly elections as Teepu vs. Savarkar. Speaking at a program on Tuesday, he said that not those who worship Tipu Sultan, but only those who worship Rama and Hanuman should be here. All the heirs of Tipu Sultan should be driven to their homes and they should vote for Rama and Hanuman.
We are devotees of Rama and Hanuman. Not Tipu’s heirs. The descendants of Tipu Sultan should be sent to their homes,” said the BJP chief. These comments were made targeting the Congress.
‘I challenge you in the land of Hanuman…those who love Tipu cannot stay here. “Only those who worship Rama and Hanuman should be here,” he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed that the BJP-led NDA government has been largely successful in controlling terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, insurgency in the Northeast and left-wing Naxalism. He said that central agencies and police forces are effectively countering the activities of organizations like Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Center has succeeded in imposing restrictions on PFI. Shah said that this shows the commitment and strength of the government towards democracy.
He made these remarks at the initiation parade of the 74th batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA). He said that due to the policy of zero tolerance of terrorism, strong framework of anti-terrorism laws, robustness of agencies and strength of political will, incidents of terrorism have reduced.
