Maharashtra’s Women and Child Welfare Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that more than one lakh cases of love jihad have been registered in Maharashtra. He said that he has the responsibility to stop cases like Shraddha Walker’s murder in the state. Such killings will not be allowed, he said. Ek Nath Shinde reiterated that the government is committed to prevent this. Lodha defended the interfaith marriage committee set up by the government to solve such problems.

The minister made these comments while addressing the state assembly on Wednesday. Speaking on this occasion, he said that Maharashtra will introduce a new policy for women in the ongoing budget meetings of the state legislature. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, there was a discussion on women’s policy in the state assembly. Lodha made this statement while replying to the debate on the issue in the Legislative Assembly.

He assured that the state government will consider all the suggestions made by the MLAs regarding the welfare, safety and empowerment of women. He said that the government will regularly submit its performance report on decisions related to women empowerment. He said that the new policy will be practical and will also announce a ‘tourist policy’ for women.

He said that ‘Janata Durbar’ will be organized for women at the district level every month and 50 complaints will be received. The Minister said that Mahila Bazaar has been proposed in all districts every month to promote the products of Self Help Societies. 50 percent of corporate social responsibility funds should be allocated for women’s welfare. Meanwhile, the minister shared the video of his speech in the assembly through his Twitter account.
