Counting of votes in Anantapur JNTU which started on Thursday continues on Saturday as well. After the counting of the first priority votes in 11 rounds, 2,45,687 votes were counted and 2,26,405 votes were declared valid. In the counting of the first priority votes, no one got the required number of votes to win, and now the counting of the second priority votes is going on. 49 candidates contested for this post. District Collector and Election Returning Officer Nagalakshmi announced that Ramgopal Reddy won after the elimination process as no candidate had a proper majority. Bhumi Reddy got 1,09,781 votes and Ravindra Reddy got 1,02,238 votes.
However, YCP candidate Ravindra Reddy and former MLA Vishveshwar Reddy are criticizing the way of counting. They are alleging irregularities in the counting of votes. They claimed that people voted for YCP and the moral victory was theirs. They alleged that since the counting started till today, TDP candidate got the lead due to sharing of votes received by BJP. They have made it clear that they will fight the injustice done to them and will also take it to the attention of the Central Election Commission. Moreover, both of them organized agitation in the counting center. With this, the collector intervened and advised to file a written complaint if there is anything. With this, Ravindra Reddy and Visveswar Reddy stopped protesting.
