Former President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf passed away at the age of 79 in Dubai due to illness. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday was furious over the comments made by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor regarding his death. Shashi Tharoor condoled the death of Pervez Musharraf and described him as a messenger of peace. He tweeted stating that he is intelligent, charming and clear in his thoughts.

“Former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf has died of a rare disease. He was once a staunch enemy of India. But he emerged as a real force for peace in 2002-2007. In those days I used to meet him every year at the United Nations. I clearly recognized the intelligence in his strategic thinking. RIP” he tweeted.

BJP was furious over this tweet. He was targeted. In the background of this tweet, BJP spokesperson Shahjad Poonawala said that Shashi Tharoor is a sympathizer of Pakistan. He tweeted that Pervez Musharraf was the architect of the Kargil war, a dictator and a perpetrator of heinous crimes. “Congress welcomes those who considered Taliban, Osama as brothers and heroes – refused to take back the dead bodies of their own dead soldiers! “Pakism has reappeared in Congress,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, “Musharraf once praised Rahul Gandhi as a gentleman. Maybe Congress likes Musharraf? From Article 370 to surgical strikes, the Congress echoed the Pakistan line, questioning Balakot. Congratulated Musharraf. But our own chief was called ‘Sadak Ka Gunda’. This is Congress!” he claimed.

Former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf was born on August 11, 1943 in Delhi, British India. He got his commission from Pakistan Military Academy Kakul on 19th April 1961. He was promoted to the rank of General in 1998. He took charge as Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in Pakistan.
