Police said that a 40-year-old teacher of a government school in East Delhi has been taken into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting an eight-year-old class 3 girl in the school premises. The sports teacher has been working in a school in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area since 2016. Last week, the third-grade girl was lured by the teacher to a secluded area of the school and sexually assaulted. He threatened that if I told anyone about this, it would be fine.
The matter came to light when her mother became suspicious of the child’s behavior. An eight-year-old girl explained what happened when asked by her mother. The parents approached the police on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Amrita Gugulot said that after they received a call about the incident that took place four or five days ago, a team was sent to the spot.
The girl was given medical examination and counselling. A case has been registered against the accused teacher under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, Gugulot said. A school in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area is in turmoil after the teacher, who is responsible for shaping the society, was treated like an animal.
