Injuries are not new to Team India. It will not stop now. But the recent injuries to the cricketers, are they taking care of it..? Or even if it has already happened, before they die, they come back to the national team and come back after one or two matches, and then they go on the path of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) citing the injury. The recent injury to Team India’s middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer raises the same doubts.
Shreyas Iyer, who is a member of the fourth Test between India and Australia at Ahmedabad, also fielded for two days. But on the third day, Subhaman Gill was out and did not come to bat at number five. He did not enter the crease in India’s first innings due to injury.
As the back injury is bothering him again, BCCI has done scans on him. According to the current information, Iyer is doubtful to play in the IPL along with the ODI series (against Australia) starting from 17th of this month. But the fact that the players are getting injured again and again is making the BCCI angry. It is reported that the BCCI is inquiring as to what the injured player is doing after going to the NCA and how the doctors and fitness trainers are treating him. If what happened in the case of Bumrah happens in the case of another player, the board also feels that there will be no shortage of shocks for Team India, which is actually aiming for the ODI World Cup.
Generally, any injured player goes to NCA and their primary duty is to get adequate treatment and regain fitness. I don’t know if our cricketers follow these rules but we often see them going there and making Instagram reels. Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shreyas Iyer are leading in making such videos. Recently, a video of Iyer doing steps with Dhawan to the song ‘Come Down’ while at the NCA before the Delhi Test went viral.
However, after the recent recovery of Iyer’s injury, it is known that a special meeting was held with BCCI and NCA officials. A representative of BCCI said about this.. ‘Yes. It (Iyer getting injured) is very frustrating. This is not the first time. BCCI should already learn a lesson in Bumrah’s case. But that seems not to have happened. Shreyas should not be rushed. I can’t tell now how he will be till the ODI series..” he said.
The player will be available for national team selection only after getting the fitness clearance certificate from NCA. It is known that the BCCI has inquired what the NCA sports science department headed by Nitin Patel is doing about the fitness of the players.
