Torture in police custody.. Congress demands Rs 50 lakh exgratia to the family of deceased Mohammad Qadir


Medak: Telangana Congress has demanded Rs 50 lakh ex gratia to Mohammad Qadeer’s family. Mohammed Qadir, who suffered serious injuries after being brutally tortured by the Medak police, died while undergoing treatment at the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

Telangana Congress: Telangana PCC president A. Revanth Reddy demanded the government to give an ex-gratia of fifty lakh rupees to the families of the deceased, the day after the death of Mohammed Qadir due to torture in the custody of the Medak police. Revanth Reddy demanded that ex gratia should be paid to Qadir’s family and an inquiry should be conducted into his death. Revanth tweeted that he strongly condemns this heinous act and demands a SIT inquiry and pay Rs 50 lakh ex gratia to Qadir’s family.

In his last video, Mohammed Qadir alleged that the Medak police beat him for 5 days and tried to cover it up. Mohammed Qadir, who suffered serious injuries after being brutally tortured by the Medak police, died while undergoing treatment at the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar on Saturday directed the Inspector General of Police to oversee the investigation into the alleged torture-related death in custody of a 35-year-old laborer arrested by the Medak police on suspicion of his role in a theft case.

What happened?

Mohammed Qadeer was arrested by the police in the case of chain snatching. However, he alleged that the police brutally tortured him and died while undergoing treatment at the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday. As the family members expressed concern over this, on Saturday, police officials promised to investigate and take disciplinary action against some of the policemen involved. On January 29, Medak Town police arrested a man named Mohammad Qadir (35) in Yakut Pura, Hyderabad. Qadir was a resident of Medak Town but went to stay with a relative in Yakut Pura. Police suspected Qadeer of involvement in two theft cases registered in January. The family members alleged that they were detained and severely beaten in this order.
