Union Home Minister Amit Shah: Whatever you do in future life, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called upon the youth not to give up their mother tongue. Addressing the graduating students at the 71st Convocation of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, he urged them to study the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. “What I want to say to all degree holders is that whatever you do in life, don’t give up mother tongue. Come out of this inferiority complex that (mastering a particular language) will give you approval,” he said in Hindi.

“Language is an expression, not a material. Any language can be used for expression. When a person thinks and does research and analysis in his mother tongue, his ability increases manifold. Along with analysis, logic and decision-making ability increases. He said that mother tongue is the best medium for personality development. Amit Shah said that the languages of our country have the best grammar, literature, poetry and history and if we do not enrich them, we cannot improve the future of the country. That is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to make mother tongue compulsory in primary education under NEP. Graduate students should read NEP, he said, which will clear their concepts on the use of education. .

Amit Shah stated that Maharaja Sayajirao’s idea of accessible education, Sardar Patel’s idea of empowerment, Ambedkar’s wisdom, Aurobindo’s idea of cultural, nationalist education and Gandhi’s emphasis on mother tongue are present in NEP. He said that the third Sayajirao Gaikwad who ruled the Baroda Sultanate tried to establish an ideal system of governance. Amit Shah said that Dr. BR Ambedkar framed our constitution and it is the best in the world and he was able to achieve this because Maharaja Gaikwad gave him a scholarship. He said that Gaikwad worked for the spread of education, the establishment of justice, the upliftment of the downtrodden communities, providing irrigation water to farmers and undertaking social reforms. Amit Shah praised that he worked hard to provide compulsory and free education and laid the foundation of Fine Arts Faculty.

He said NEP has tried to make education streamless and classless. “When that happens, you can think freely. The aim of education is not to get a degree, a good job, comfort in personal life. Its aim is to become a complete human being, and that is possible only when education is non-flowing and classless, that’s why PM Modi ji has tried to do that,” he said. The Union Minister stated that NEP is the first education system in the country which did not face opposition. Earlier, Amit Shah, who inaugurated the reconstructed lake in Nardipura, laid the foundation stone for several development programs in Kalol, Gandhinagar, his Lok Sabha constituency. He presided over the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committees (Direction) meeting in Gandhinagar.
