Uttar Pradesh: A 48-year-old woman died of a “wrong” injection given by a medical practitioner in Uttar Pradesh district, police said on Sunday. The accused was arrested by the police. According to police, the incident took place at a clinic in Semrad area under Koirauna police station. A woman died on Friday due to a wrong injection.

The victim’s family members have lodged a complaint with the police. Quoting this, Station House Officer (SHO) Brijesh Kumar Maurya said that a woman named Patti Devi (48) fell ill and was taken to a clinic run by a man named Rajan Vishwakarma. He said that she died due to wrong injection. The body was sent for postmortem.

Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR under sections of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the accused on Sunday. “The accused could not produce any medical degree regarding his eligibility before the police,” the SHO said.

A 24-year-old female doctor committed suicide by injecting anesthesia medicine at the government-run Gandhi Medical College (GMC) hostel, a police officer said on Thursday. On the evening of January 4, a woman named Akanksha Maheshwari committed suicide in her hostel room. The police officials said that the dead body of the woman was recovered from there.

Police later recovered empty injection bottles and a syringe from her room, Koh-e-Fiza police station in-charge Vijay Sisodia said, adding that the woman had consumed 2.5 ml. He said that she took four doses of anesthesia each. In that room, a suicide note was found in which she wrote that she was not mentally strong and could not withstand the tension. He said that she had taken this serious decision for personal reasons and no one was responsible for it. The note also stated that the woman had apologized to her parents.

Akanksha Maheshwari is pursuing post graduation in pediatrics department at GMC which is run by Govt. He said that she was a first year student of this course. According to the story of other students in the hostel.. Her room door was closed since that morning. When they returned in the evening they were surprised to find it still closed. The security guard and medical management have been alerted about it, the official said.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and forced open the door to find the dead body of the woman in the room. She is a resident of Gwalior. Joined GMC a month ago. She spoke to her family around 7 am that day, the officer said. The official said that the police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
